About Frank
The Glendale Philharmonic soldiers on, and its fifth anniversary concert returns to where it began: First Baptist Church in Glendale. The ensemble's new music director, Frank Fetta, will lead a program of Mozart's Symphony No. 1, Aaron Copland's "Appalachian Spring," Arthur Honegger's "Summer Pastorale," Scott Joplin's "The Entertainer" and Haydn's Cello Concerto No. 1, with Biryukov as soloist. Popular KUSC-FM host Rich Capparela will be the evening's narrator. The program is the first in the orchestra's "Positive Motions" concert series, which will include chamber music concerts on March 28 and May 10. The March concert — featuring Los Angeles Opera concertmaster Roberto Cani, well-known pianist Armen Guzelimian, and Biryukov on cello playing music by Arno Babajanian and Dmitri Shostakovich — will be in memory of the Armenian genocide victims.
