Blessed and beautiful! Brandi Maxiell may be known for her dueling arguments as a reality star on VH1’s “Basketball Wives LA,” but she’s battled a much tougher opponent and won – that is, ovarian cancer. Today, she’s a wife. A mother. A cancer survivor.
Raised by a single mother in Dallas, Texas, Brandi was taught the importance of education, and she graduated from the University of North Texas in 2007. That same year, she re-located to Detroit to be with her high school sweetheart and fiancé, Jason Maxiell, then a player in the NBA for the Detroit Pistons. With her whole life in front of her, she was excited about her new beginnings until a diagnosis changed everything, and brought her fairytale life to a crashing halt.
