Mother Love, renowned television and radio talk show host, film and tv veteran, and noted author, is committed to changing lives through healthy living. Having grown up with a love of food and an insatiable appetite, her weight shot up to 250 pounds on her 5'6" frame. With rapidly declining health, her life changed dramatically in 1990, when she was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes, and she had to make the difficult choices in order to live and be healthy. Faced with the reality that she may not make it to her next birthday, she lost over 100 pounds and stopped the cycle of early death in her own family, where several members met their demise far too young. She's been on a mission ever since to inform, enlighten and empower people to make their PHD - Personal Health Decisions and to encourage a healthy lifestyle while also enjoying life.

Mother Love is a motivational speaker on many family and women"s issues. She is the recipient of many humanitarian awards for her work with diabetes awareness.

Traveling across the nation, Mother Love has presented her Diabetes Awareness Bus & Truck Tour at health fairs, expos, universities, hospitals, and other large venues on behalf of Novo Nordisk, and was a spokesperson for Glucerna Nutritional Products. She's represented AETNA Insurance Company in spreading her message to hundreds of thousands. As a long-time volunteer spokesperson for the American Diabetes Association (ADA), she is encouraging people affected by diabetes to visibly demonstrate their passion for fighting this disease.

Hello GIRLFRIENDS!

I know you are smart enough to begin making your P.H.D.! I hear you thinking “I don’t have time, I am too busy, It’ll cost too much. Well let me share this with you, you have to make the time, don’t ever be that busy and if you don’t start now it will be costly.

I am speaking about making your Personal Health Decisions! You take care of everybody else, your spouse/significant other, children, parents, faith members, neighbors, strangers. You will even take care of your ex husband’s and his new wife’s baby before you will take care of you.

We are losing far too many beautiful, talented women too soon to so many diseases and maladies simply because, you don’t take care of yourself. And YOU know who you are. You will go 100 miles an hour everyday, work, kids, home, church, social calendars. You’ll wait, make excuses, don’t want to hear bad news, maybe you don’t have adequate medical insurance to go see the doctor about what is ailing you.  Ponder this thought “When something happens to me, what will happen to them?” Especiallyif you are a person who everyone depends on for everything.

 Where is your ME time?

I know firsthand what not making my PHD meant. I was diagnosed with Type II Diabetes in 1990 and would not even call it Diabetes, it was “A Little Sugar”. I know that a little sugar will not cause you to suffer mental health issues, lose your lower limbs, go blind, suffer renal failure, have a stroke, heart attack or worse, premature death. I have family members who have lost limbs, their eyesight and are off the planet at very early ages.

I would not want anyone of you fabulous Girlfriends to have to suffer through that kind of loss.  You are in charge! Take command and make your PHD and make them count.

Get your head in a good place so, you are better able to take of you. Take a walk to clear your mind of all the clutter and keep your heart pumping. If you can cook, make time to do it. I find that I am really good at making healthy recipes that are flavorful and fun. I say,” Get in that kitchen and use those gadgets!” For those people who are not working on your vision of better health, kick them to the curb. It could be time for like minded girlfriends to be in your corner. You can start with Me! I love you and there is nothing you can do about it!
